We still have rooms available on St. Patrick's day, March
17th. Stay with us to celebrate the holiday and enjoy a free traditional
Irish dinner of corned beef, cabbage, and all the fixings.
A film crew spent two days with us this week filming an Alfred
Hitchcock style thriller in the old house, and they'll be back this coming
week on the 9th, 10th, and 11th. If you've ever wanted to see the process
of making a movie, and you don't mind a little disruption around the
facility, we do have the Celtic and Asian rooms available. Come on out and
watch, or if you want to pitch in and help, get your name added to the
credits! It's a lot of fun and all of the people are wonderful.
Valentine's day was a big success. All four couples ended up doing
Romance Packages so we had a wonderful, elegant dinner and then everyone
had a ball dancing in the disco afterwards.
Goldie, our miracle chicken, died peacefully of old age. We buried
her in the yard with a tiny marble marker. In addition, if you look at the
cement leading up to the bridge you'll notice that about a couple of years
ago when we poured the cement, we memorialized her by putting her
footprints in the cement.
Over the past week or so we've planted about 300 trees on the
property. They're all tiny so you probably wouldn't even notice them, but
just wait ten years or so!

Regina's foot is healing nicely, although she is still on crutches.
Her application to transfer to SDSU was accepted so she'll be jointing
their business and accounting program this fall. She's currently looking
for a job either teaching dance or waitressing.
We visited Liz and Daniel for a weekend, that that area of the
country (around Whidbey Island, Washington) is sure beautiful. We went to
drive up to Vancouver but none of us remembers that you now need passports
to go to Canada, so that trip turned into just a pleasant drive. When we
got back, Daniel taught all of us how to play poker.
John and Glenda took a one day "staycation" down at the Hyatt in San
Diego and had a blast.

Hints from "The Everyday Cook-Book," (c) 1889 and found in
the Jamul Haven Angel House.
Spots on Towels: No articles in kitchen use are so likely to be
neglected and abused as the dish-cloths and dish towels; and in washing
these, ammonia, if properly used, is a greater comfort than anywhere else.
Put a teaspoonful into the water in which these cloths are, or should be,
washed every day; rub soap on the towels. Put them in water, let them stand
a half hour or so, then rub them out thoroughly, rinse faithfully, and dry
out-doors in clear air and sun, and dish-cloths and towels need never look
gray and dingy-a perpetual discomfort to all housekeepers.

Recipies from "The Everyday Cook-Book," (c) 1889 and found
in the Jamul Haven Angel House.
Egged Veal Hash: Chop fine remnants of cold roast veal. Moisten with
the gravy or water. When hot, add three or four eggs, according to the
quantity of veal. When the eggs are cooked, stir into it a spoonful of
butter, and serve quickly. If to your taste, shake in a little parsley.
Should you lack quantity, half a cup of fine stale bread-crumbs are no
disadvantage.
