Open House a Huge
Success
On December 15th and 16th we
held an open house to let our neighbors tour Jamul
Haven. Marianne kept the pool pavilion stocked
with delicious food throughout the entire weekend,
even though more than 250 people signed in (and
the actual number of visitors was even higher than
that.) Every thirty minutes Marianne and I
conducted tours of the facility to groups of
between ten and twenty people. My only regret is
that the number of people limited the time I could
spend with each visitor, and I'm afraid that I
came across more as a museum docent than as a
gracious host.
After the dust had settled
we held a drawing for door prizes from those who
had signed in along with previous and future
guests (basically, anyone that was on our initial
newsletter subscriber list). The winners were:
Grand Prize, 1 free night at Jamul Haven:
Lou Adzima
Second Place, free Roundtable
Pizza and signed limited edition leather bound
poetry book: Cipre Powell and Dan Seeman
Third Place, free audio CD, Poems of
Romance: Karla Bayon, Joann Sanchez, Rick Griffin,
Lorie Scurlock, Barry Rice, Deirdre Rose, John
Watson, Maryann Williams, Ana Corella, Jayne
Gentile.
Winners should contact me at
william@jamulhaven.com to claim their prizes.
We'll be having another drawing for prizes
for newsletter subscribers sometime later this
year. If you have any friends who might be
interested in keeping up with the news from Jamul
Haven, please forward a copy of this newsletter to
those friends so that they can subscribe as well.
People can also sign up for the newsletter
directly from our website at
www.jamulhaven.com.

Romantic Getaway
#1
There's something romantic
about antique cars, at least for some of us. Take
a step back in time to the world of automobiles in
the early 1900s. Visit thrift stores to put
together an outfit that is appropriate to the
time, then book your weekend at Jamul Haven.
During your time with us, visit the old
car museum at Simpson's nursery in Jamul.
Simpson's nursery has been a Jamul fixture since
1928, and they still give each visitor a free
apple. Make a trip to the San Diego Automotive
Museum in Balboa Park (25 miles from Jamul Haven).
Between now and 3/26 you can also check out their
display of Detroit concept cars.
End your
day with a tour of San Diego and dinner in a
chauffeur driven antique car (reservations from
http://www.lancedurant.com/about.html).

Innkeeper
Update
Our daughter Elizabeth and
her husband Daniel visited from Corpus Christi,
Texas for the holidays. She is currently training
to be a pilot in the Navy, and Daniel is a
commercial pilot flying cargo.
Our
daughter Regina just finished a successful run
dancing as the Ice Princess at the show at Viejas.
Crowds of up to 2,000 per night watched the
special effects intensive show.
William
just signed a deal with two movie producers to
make a documentary film based on his play "Frost."
The movie will show the process of taking a
stage-play from page to stage, filming a local
production company as they go through the entire
process. If you are aware of a local theatre
company that would be interested in participating,
email william at
william@jamulhaven.com.

In The News
During January we'll be
working on a marketing plan, which we'll then
execute during the remainder of 2008. I know that
many of you have offered verbal suggestions for
ways to market Jamul Haven. If you have the time,
it would be great if you could email your ideas to
william@jamulhaven.com. We are particularly
interested in referrals to local magazines,
newspapers, radio shows, and so on.
